Beers of the Festival 2008


 
The Champion Beer in the "Beer of the Festival" competition at the 31st Norwich Beer Festival was Elmtree Beers' Nightlight Mild (5.7%). It is brewed by one of Norfolk's newer small breweries, based at Snetterton.
 
Second place went to Winter's From The Ashes (from Norwich) and third was Grain Festival Special (from Alburgh, near Harleston).
 
The category winners were:
 
Mild — 1st Elmtree Nightlight Mild; 2nd Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild; 3rd Hook Norton Hooky Dark.
 
Bitter — 1st Grain Oak; 2nd Norfolk Square Pi; 3rd Palmer Copper Ale.
 
Best Bitter — 1st Grain Festival Special; 2nd Oakham Bishops Farewell; 3rd Felinfoel Double Dragon.
 
Strong Bitter — 1st Winter's From The Ashes; 2nd Dorset Durdle Door; 3rd Green Jack Mahseer IPA.
 
Olds, Stouts and Porters — 1st Wagtail English Ale; 2 Brown Cow After Dark Coffee Porter; 3rd= Grain Blackwood Stout; 3rd= Humpty Dumpty Porter.
 
Special Styles — 1st Nethergate Umbel; 2nd Fat Cat Brewery Marmalade Cat; 3rd Tryst Zetland Wheatbeer.
 
Golden Ales — 1st Winter's Golden; 2nd Humpty Dumpty Golden Gorse; 3rd Humpty Dumpty Hop Harvest Gold.
 
Cider — 1st Pickled Pig Porter's Snout.
 
Foreign — 1st Andechs Weissbier.
